Not sure where to start?

You may be thinking “I’m new to the reformer- it looks intimidating! where should I start?”

Well…..You know your body and abilities best but we know the reformer can be a little scary (maybe a lot scary!). So we wrote a little guide to assist you in choosing a class for your first time at the Good Place. PS don’t forget your grip socks!

HAVE YOU DONE REFORMER PILATES BEFORE?

IF YES:

TRY A REFORM I TO GET A FEEL OF OUR ALIGN TOWER REFORMERS, IF YOU ARE SEASONED GO AHEAD AND JUMP INTO ANY CLASS, COME EARLY YOUR FIRST TIME TO CHECK OUT THE MACHINE AND FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR SPRINGS AND EQUIPMENT.

THEN TAKE A VARIETY OF CLASSES TO FIND A FAVORITE.

IF NO:

IF YOU ARE NEW TO MOVEMENT IN GENERAL OR HAVE HESITATION ABOUT EQIUPMENT TRY A FUNDAMENTALS OR AGE WELL SESSION AS THE ARE SLOWER TRANSITIONS AND THE COACH HAS MORE TIME TO SHOW YOU THE MOVEMENT ON THE EQUIPMENT ALONG WITH MODIFICATIONS.

IF YOU ARE A SEASONED MOVER OR AT THE VERY LEAST A QUICK LEARNER START WITH FUNDAMENTALS, REFORM I OR RECOVER AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES TO GET USED TO THE EQUIPMENT AND FLOW OF CLASS.

IM A BEGINNER AND ACCIDENTALLY BOOKED REFORM II- SHOULD I CANCEL?

IT DEPENDS, YOU CAN STILL TAKE THE CLASS, YOUR COACH KNOWS HOW TO MODIFY THE EXERCISES FOR EVERYONE, HOWEVER, IN A GROUP THEY HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS TO COACH SO KNOW THAT SOME EXERCISES MIGHT BE FASTER OR MORE ADVANCED THAN YOU HAVE TRIED BEFORE AND IT MAY FEEL OVERWHELMING.

TAKE A BREATH! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO COME WE SUGGEST:

TRY ONE OR TWO REPS. IF IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL GOOD TAKE A BREAK, YOU CAN ALWAYS GET A GOOD STRETCH IN AND FOCUS ON YOUR BREATH. REMINDER THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS FOCUSED ON THEIR OWN PRACTICE AND NO ONE WILL NOTICE IF YOU TAKE A FEW EXTRA CHILDS POSES! HOWEVER, DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOUR COACH OR TEAMMATE CHEERS YOU ON! THATS WHY WE LOVE TRAINING THE GOOD PLACE!

PS CHECK IN EARLY & COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR COACH IF YOU HAVE INJURIES OR CONCERNS BEFORE CLASS.

DO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE MOVING AROUND & STANDING ON THE MACHINE WITH THE STRAPS & SPRINGS?

IF YES:

BRANCH OUT AND START TAKING REBOUND, RECHARGE, REFLEX

IF NO:

STICK TO REFORM I & FUNDAMENTALS THEY ARE WELL ROUNDED AN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE CHALLENGED ON THE REFORMER.

WHAT “LEVELS” ARE THE CLASSES ANYWAYS?

WELL WE DON’T LOVE “LABELS” BUT IF WE HAD TO THIS IS THE DEGREE OF INTENSITY IN ASCENDING ORDER
